OMG I came to MEXICO!!!
¡Hola!
My name is Hiromi. I am a Japanese. Currently, I work as a study abroad coordinator at the University of Guanajuato.
I speak 日本語, English, and Español. I was born and raised in Japan, but I have never really believed or felt comfortable that I was a Japanese. So, after high school, I went to California to discover who I am.
After graduating from Soka University of America, I worked for one year in Japan. However, I found myself feeling really difficult to get used to the work environment. So I asked around if there is any job opportunity, and I found out about this job.
(This is an entrance of the university of Guanajuato )
I arrived in Guanajuato, Mexico on 5/20/2018. My friend came to BJX, a local airport in Leon to pick me up. From Japan, I had to choose to make a stopover either in the US or in Mexico city to Leon. The lfight was total 14hours so I was really tired. But more than that I was happy to be back.
Back in 2014, I was doing an internship at the International Office of Guanajuato University. I stayed for 3 months to support some summer research projects and exchange programs. This January, I contacted my boss in the office to see if there is any job opportunity available. Luckily there was a position available!
(It´s good to ask even though there might be no information available in the website!)
It was a difficult decision to leave my family in Japan. However, I was always hoping to use and brush up my language skills in an international work environment. And also I wanted to share my experience of doing study abroad and living in different countries with many people. So after a few months of considerations and struggles, I finally left Japan. again...
Maybe I explain what I do as a study abroad coordinator. Basically, I support students and professors who are coming to and leaving from Guanajuato University for their study abroad, research projects, etc... It´s an office work, but I get to meet many studets from abroad and Mexico face to face. I can encourage young people to go to study abroad. Also, there will be job trips in Mexico and abroad.
I am really excited for my new job and life in Mexico. I will keep you updates.
Ciao
